Owner of silverleaf cake company, stretched out across two rattan chairs in a plush garden, laughing and eating cake

This is me – Parul. I have always been a creative – it’s a family trait. Silverleaf Cake Company was borne from my love of Cake and Creativity.

My baking journey started in 2003 when we moved abroad and realised I couldn’t get the sweet treats I had really enjoyed – cakes, brownies, lemon meringue, cheesecakes – the list is endless. I was fortunate enough to open my very own coffee shop – I love anything homemade, so this was a treat for me! Returning back to the UK, I continued to bake and supply a local coffee shop.

My next step was designing dessert tables – catering for small and large events. Through these experiences, I learnt to experiment with new ideas, flavours, tastes, textures and really hone in on my recipes.

My cakes are always freshly prepared using the finest ingredients, handmade to perfection. I take pride in using Fairtrade and locally sourced ingredients where possible and never limit myself to any rules in style and approach.

Wedding cakes came organically. After receiving my first order, a second and third came in succession. It gives me a real buzz planning something beautiful with my clients for their special day.

Teaching came similarly – first the basics of cake making, dessert classes and moving on to achieving sharp edges and making intricate sugar-flowers. It is really so rewarding.
